Old Fashioned Blocks

Because I'm an auntie, I love toys and less-than-practical gifts! Lately I've been admiring really finely made blocks, here are two of my favorites:

The first are these beautiful Pastel Blocks made with entirely nontoxic finishes. They are available through Babybox.com for only $21. My other favorite are truly old fashioned. Knitting Books

I have recently decided to learn how to knit, no laughter please. While I'm still working on what appears to be a lopsided bug's scarf, there is no shortage of good inspiration out there! I found two beautiful books that would make great gifts for crafty parents or family members. Sophie Giraffe

I have noticed that Sophie is making a comeback recently and everyone seems to be talking about her! A great option in the teething toys, she is soft and makes a gentle squeak. They have been around since 1961 and I even had this little French toy when I was younger. I remember that she did not have that plastic toy smell either which probably also encourages children to chew on her. As I got older she moved in with my Breyer horses! Spearmint Baby DIY Decor

I have a theory that in everyone of us is a little crafting genius waiting to show us their stuff. I'm not sure if any of you are familiar with Spearmintbaby.com. I've recently discovered them and their fantastic, fantastic DIY section which includes easy, affordable, and downright beautiful projects!

Hot Air Balloon Mobile

This comes from LilSugar's "Pimp Your Crib" section but I love what they found! These classic, realistic Large Royal Aero Hot Air Balloons would be beautiful in any nursery and come in a variety of colors. This one will run you about $72.99 but they do have other size and color options at even smaller price points!

Peter Rabbit Gifts

Beatrix Potter is certainly seeing a come back. I can't figure out what would bring on the sudden return to a classic, but I'm not complaining! Here are three adorable Peter Rabbit gifts for little ones.

Corolle Babipouce

While we're on the topic of classic dolls, how can you resist the Corolle Babipouce Dolls. Corolle is a French company located in Loire Valley that has been making dolls since 1979. They are priced at $34 and can be found through Elegant Child and come in a multitude of ethnicities.

Raggedy Andy & Raggedy Ann

Created in 1915 by Johnny Gruelle these two dolls have become a classic for any American child. I think they've been long forgotten in an era where Barbie drives a Ferrari but it is time for a revival of these two sweeties.I think my favorite pick is the set from Raggedy Land made by Madame Alexander priced at $65If you are really looking to invest, I love these Pastel Keepsake Dolls from The Elegant Child priced at $470

Label Your Stuff

Maybe its because I'm a fanatic with my label maker so I know I would be ironing these little things onto everything in site. Just ask my husband, he thinks I'm insane. But if my iron on labels came with all these sweet icons, who could blame me? And with prices starting at $9.95 for 50, why shouldn't I label it all??My favorite designs? The puppy and the plane!

These adorable pacifier clips, or "minders" as my grandmother would call them, from Cunill are so sweet. You can order them through Silver Gallery, another keepsakes favorite source. I can't help but gush about this modern baby furniture from Target. Dwell Studio designed this Silver Lake Changing Table dresser to last, coming in at $249.99

Adult Children's Furniture

My Wisteria catalog arrived today and they are presently carrying some adorable Swedish children's furniture. I just had to share! First is this little settee which is colored to suit either gender's nursery and playroom. At just 22 inches tall it is priced at $169, but it is on sale for $143.65! It also comes in individual chairs which are well worth checking out.They also have this junior 18th century Louis XVI-style chair with its sweet, pink, striped upholstery. It is priced at $199 but presently on sale for $179.10

Nursery Gliders

I once had a friend who put hers in the living room. It looked like a fine piece of living room furniture and she could be with her family as she rocked her little one to sleep. No matter where you decide to put your glider, these are my favorites - the ones that don't scream, "A baby lives here!" I love this pocketbook friendly option from Target.
